With this being my first blog I'll just give some background info. I'm a huge fan of the statesmen quartet and I start my mornings off reading my bible and listening to them. It really starts my day off right so I decided to post a video along with the passage I've read and maybe it will speak to you as it does me.
Today I started off with one of my favorite albums "A Recorded Personal Appearance A Gospel Concert by the Statesmen Quartet with Hovie Lister". The first song is He Will Never Let Me Down and its a good foot pattin', hand clappin, get on your mule and go down town type of song penned by the Big Chief. I'll say this Chief sure knew how to write a song. The Lyrics go:
He Will Never Let Me Down (No Never)
He Will Never Let Me Down (No Never)
When I'm Troubled He Will Never Let Me Down
He Will Never Let Me Down (No Never)
He Will Never Let Me Down (No Never)
Christ of Calvary, He Will Never Let Me Down
God is a God of might and wisdom He is the God of Love,
Crucified but now is risen reigns from up above,
He built the stars and moon and seasons of the year,
While He's the master of my soul, I'll have no fear.
He Will Never Let Me Down (No Never)
He Will Never Let Me Down (No Never)
When I'm Troubled He Will Never Let Me Down
He Will Never Let Me Down (No Never)
He Will Never Let Me Down (No Never)
Christ of Calvary, He Will Never Let Me Down
I read about what He did for Daniel there in the lions den,
After Daniel had told the king just what his dream had been,
He told the king his time was up, that the end was very near
Old Daniel had a mighty God, he had no fear.
He Will Never Let Me Down (No Never)
He Will Never Let Me Down (No Never)
When I'm Troubled He Will Never Let Me Down
He Will Never Let Me Down (No Never)
He Will Never Let Me Down (No Never)
Christ of Calvary, Will Not Let Me Down
In Matthew 28:20 it says "teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." and in Hebrews 13:5 says "Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." He wont leave us in times of trouble, sickness or whatever else you can imagine. He is there for us even when we do not deserve it. Praise God that he will never let us down when mankind will! If this doesn't make your soul jump then you need to get your spiritual battery checked out! Praise God and Thank you for being there and never leaving nor forsaking us.

Hi Chris,
ReplyDeleteThank you for all your work preserving and showing this great gospel music. There is an old Statesmen recording (Statesmen Quartet; On Stage RCA Victor 2188 (1960)) that contains a song called 'Amen' which is the best good foot pattin', hand clappin, get on your mule and go down town type of song. Hope you get a chance to hear it.
Thanks or your work,
Ron
Thank you Chris. I love your YouTube page also. I sing with The Beulah Land Quartet out of Pensacola FL. I 'am looking for a song that I believe is on this album. It is called "At Last". If you find it can you please post it to your YouTube account and here? Thank you so much again! Tom Stoner.
